Khloé Kardashian’s Reaction To Finding Daughter True Playing With Her Makeup Is So Heartwarming
Playing with your mom’s makeup is a rite of passage for little kids. I remember getting in trouble for drawing lipstick all over my face as a 4-year-old, and my own toddlers have been caught red-(and pink- and glitter-)handed in my cosmetics, too. Even celebrities go through this! Seeing how Khloé Kardashian reacted to her daughter True, 6, playing with her lipstick was so refreshing. She was so kind and gracious with her little girl, and it healed my inner child a little bit!
The Good American founder shared a video of her daughter with colorful lipstick all over her face. “What did you do to your face?” Kardashian asked her daughter on her Instagram story, per PEOPLE. True had drawn with pink, purple, and red lipstick all over face. There was like a pink “T” on her forehead, a red nose, and a red and purple smear all over her face like a little beard. She even managed to get some lipstick on her lips!
True looks so messy and cute, as she smiles up at her mom. “I colored it with lipstick,” True admitted in the video. This is the point where some moms might get mad, which is totally fair. But The Kardashians star totally keeps her cool. “I love how it turned out,” she continued. “Oh, it’s gorgeous, how many colors did you use?”
Immediately praising her daughter and being curious about it instead of lecturing or scolding her is so sweet. Obviously, you don’t want your kids to think it’s OK to play in your makeup — especially the expensive products! — but overreacting to your kid’s natural curiosity isn’t a good idea either. In fact, this could be a good time to get your child some play makeup to encourage her without ruining your own makeup.
Although True is allowed to play with makeup, Kardashian has made it clear that she’s definitely not wearing cosmetics on the regular. In June, she shared dance recital photos of True with her cousins, Kim Kardashian’s 6-year-old Chicago, Rob Kardashian’s 7-year-old Dream, and Kylie Jenner’s 6-year-old Stormi. The girls looked adorable in pink sparkly tutus and ballerina buns, and they all had their makeup done.
In the caption, she praised their dance recital, adding a note to potential haters: “obviously none of our girls wear makeup like this regularly. This was for the recital only. They are beautiful just as they are.”
It sounds like Kardashian has a great thought process about makeup — it should be for fun and for expressing yourself, not because you need it to be beautiful — and it’s nice to see how she passes that on to True.
