One seriously injured in Douglas Co. crash

DOUGLAS COUNTY (KSNT) - A 49-year-old man was suspected of having serious injuries after a four-vehicle crash in Douglas County on Sunday.

At 3:27 p.m., a 36-year-old man from Lawrence was driving a 2015 Freightliner semi-truck west on US-24 Highway. The 36-year-old was slowing down to turn into a private driveway. A 49-year-old McLouth man driving a 2003 Chevy was slowing down behind the Freightliner, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) crash log.

A 19-year-old man from Oskaloosa who was driving a 1994 Dodge Ram was following the Chevy too closely and hit the rear of the vehicle. The Chevy then struck the back of the semi-truck. Then a 19-year-old woman from Emporia who was driving a 2008 Toyota Camry struck the back of the Dodge Ram, according to the KHP crash log.

The 49-year-old was taken to a Topeka hospital for treatment of serious injuries. He was listed as wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to the log.
