Why Liverpool have not made any signing in the summer transfer window

0

Liverpool are the only Premier League team not to sign a new player so far this summer.

The Reds have managed their transfer business carefully in recent years and they have acted the same way this time as well.

After the arrival of new manager Arne Slot, it felt like the Dutchman would bring players to the club who would fit his philosophy and would be well suited to his playing style.

But the new Liverpool boss has shown faith in the players he already has at the club instead of spending millions on new signings.

The Reds have saved their money and although it feels like someone would still come in at the club, it would not be someone for a lot of money.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Anthony Gordon of Newcastle United but with less than two weeks remaining in the new season to start, it is not looking likely at this stage.

Journalist Nizaar Kinsella has mentioned in the BBC the reason behind Liverpool’s cautious approach this summer.

“There is a belief both inside and outside the club that all these figures are exceptional hires, but a lack of transfer activity so far this summer has left some supporters frustrated,” Kinsella wrote.

New Liverpool manager Arne Slot has had an impressive preseason with the Reds.

“Word inside the club is that they are being careful not to disrupt the fine-tuned group built by Klopp and the calibre of player needed is so high that there are only a few options in world football that would improve the squad.”

Liverpool have acted sensibly in the past in terms of their transfer dealings and they plan to keep it that way.

Under the guidance of Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, they are certain to get more decisions right than wrong, since both are experienced and capable enough of running the club successfully.

Liverpool fans can still expect new signings to come

There is still a long time in the transfer window this summer and the feeling is the Reds will sign someone but only if he can make them better, not just for the sake of it.

They have seen all their Premier League rivals sign players and strengthen their squad and they are under pressure to do the same.

But instead of making an emotional decision when it is easy to do that at this stage, they plan to act sensibly.
