Gamethread: White Sox at Twins
The South Siders attempt to avoid a sweep number 18
The White Sox are staring into the face of the wrong end of an 18th sweep of the season — which I suppose means their are staring into the ass end of a sweep today. But do not fret, as the White Sox have faced sweeps 20 times this season, and thus only succumbed 17 times. The easy math says 85% of the time, the South Siders sidestep a sweep. So we’ve got that going for us, which is nice.
Also, burying the lede, a loss makes it 20 straight and a tie for the seventh-longest streak in MLB history.
The moribund bunch lines up today like this:

Porque realmente Pedro, why would you need to see your young trade centerpiece keep playing in the field, to help determine whether he’s a foundation piece for 2025, and where (left field, right, third base, second)? Anyway, Miguel Vargas leads off and sits all game but for for at-bats. Preserve those legs.
Oh wait, NICK SENZEL (-0.4 WAR in all of seven games with the Sox) is playing right field. That’ll fix ’em! Also notable: In the year of our lord 2024 Andrew Vaughn (also -0.4 WAR, it’s just taken him 102 games) is hitting third in a major league lineup.
On the other side, the evil Twins:

It’s a 1:10 p.m. CT game, usual broadcast suspects. Poor John and Stoney.
