Fonda lifts month-long water boil, restriction notice

FONDA, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said the village of Fonda has lifted the water boil notice for residents after a month. Deputies said the notice and a water restriction notice were lifted Sunday afternoon.

Fonda officials said residents may need to flush their water lines with cold water to circulate clean water through their plumbing. Appliances that dispense water may also need flushing and a sanitization cycle run.

Residents looking to flush hot water tanks should run hot water faucets until they run cold. Residents are also advised to replace water filters in refrigerators, faucets, water pitchers, and under sinks, as the filters are not designed to remove bacteria present in a boil notice.
