28-year-old dead after a shooting in southeast Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- One person is dead following a shooting on Saturday outside a Sunoco gas station in southeast Columbus.

Authorities responded to the 2600 block of Noe Bixby Road at about 6:50 p.m. on Saturday on report of a shooting, according to the Columbus Division of Police. Officers found 28-year-old Michael Simmons suffering from a gunshot wound.

Simmons was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at 7:22 p.m. Police said officers remained on the scene to interview witnesses in search of a suspect. There is no current information about a suspect, and the investigation is on going, police said.
