Spurs want to invest more in ‘top players’ for Postecoglou’s squad – Former Everton chief
Former Everton and Aston Villa CEO Keith Wyness believes that Tottenham will invest significantly into their playing squad after pushing through a minority sale of the club.
Tottenham are open to investment
Levy himself admitted last year when Tottenham’s financial statements were released that the club are on the lookout for potential investors.
Earlier this week, The Times reported that Spurs are valued at £3.75 billion by their chairman, who is currently in talks over minority investment into the club.
The report asserted that the Lilywhites are willing to sell up to 10 per cent of the club and that several investors, including ones from the US, had shown interest.
The outlet asserted that the funds raised would be used to invest in the first-team, the women’s side and to undertake other capital projects.
Spurs want to invest in the playing squad
Wyness believes that Levy’s plan is to oversee huge investments in new players by pushing by selling a minority stake sooner rather than later.
The former Everton chief told Football Insider about Tottenham’s plans: “They want money, as I understand it, to increase the value of the squad and put some top players in.
“They’ve always been a bit too canny on player wages in the past, so I think now is the time to push and ensure they’re in the top four. That’s the beauty of the Premier League – the top clubs have to keep investing.
“You can’t always do it on a budget like Daniel Levy has managed so far. Spurs, with another £300-500 million from a minority investor – they may decrease the debt and give Ange the rest. That would be a good strategy. Spurs would be very well-poised for the future.”

In the current PSR era, where clubs are severely restricted in terms of how much they can spend, an additional investment of £200m-£300m would be a complete game changer and potentially set a team up to dominate for many years.
If Tottenham can thus attract investors at this time, it could be the shot in the arm that Postecoglou and the club need to be able to challenge the big boys.
