NATIONAL SUMMARY
A budding tropical storm will begin to affect Florida
spreading heavy, flooding rain and wind across the peninsula
today. Along the coast there will be storm surge and
dangerous beach conditions. There will also be a risk for
tornadoes. Showers and thunderstorms will spread from the
Carolinas through Maine. Heavy downpours can lead to
localized flooding, especially in low-lying and poor
drainage areas. Meanwhile, an area of high pressure will
continue to promote dry and hot conditions across the
Rockies and interior West. There can be an afternoon
thunderstorm in Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, Montana
and the Dakotas. Along the West coast it will remain cool,
with spotty low clouds along the California coast. It will
remain warm and humid across the Plains and Midwest.
