Manipur CM N Biren Singh dedicates IRB battalions for highway protection amidst ongoing ethnic tensions

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has announced the appointment of Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) battalions as part of the state highway protection force to curb menaces along highways and provide adequate protection to the people. The state government has dedicated battalions of 10 IRB and 11 IRB to train in Assam. Hmar Inpui, a Hmar community, condemned the peace initiative held on August 1, 2024, and declared the efforts as null and void.
