News and Notes: Guardians Defeat Orioles Again
News and Notes for Saturday, August 3rd, 2024
The return of disgusting baseball, folks. The Guardians defeated the Orioles 8-4 behind some disgusting baseball.
Usually, we provide our own recap. But, this morning, I read MLB.com’s Mandy Bell’s recap and it was so good, I’m linking to it here. Read and enjoy.
C.C. Sabathia had a fun story about Carl Willis:

Sabathia will be inducted into the Guardians’ Hall of Fame today.
Tom Hamilton’s call of the Austin Hedges run on the sacrifice fly was great:

It was great to have a good Carlos Carrasco outing. If things go well, he may get moved to the pen in the near future, so seeing him hang in there against one of the best offensive teams in baseball was special.
The Guardians bullpen, minus Scott Barlow, was great again but especially Cade Smith who has been on an unbelievable tear:

Around MLB:
The Twins beat the disastrous White Sox again, and the Royals smoked the hapless Tigers, so there was no help for the Guardians there.
