U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 1.16 percent to 103.208 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was up to 1.0913 U.S. dollars from 1.0784 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound climbed to 1.2806 U.S. dollars from 1.2727 U.S. dollars in the p
