Harris' V.P. hopeful attacks Vance as 'phony baloney' after 'weird' Obama insult
Sen. J.D. Vance's attempted shot at a short-lister to become Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate backfired when said short-lister replied, in essence, "Thanks, weirdo."
Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-PA) laughed out loud during a Friday news conference at Cheyney University in Pennsylvania when a reporter told him he'd been dubbed by Trump's running mate as a "really bad impression of [former President] Barack Obama."
"That's great!" replied Shapiro. "Barack Obama was probably our most gifted orator of my time, so it's kind of a weird insult."
Shapiro dropped his easy smile when he shared his views on Trump's controversial running mate pick, whose scandals include a nonfactual but persistent couch rumor, his repeated claims that childless Americans are sociopaths, and his recent admittance that he told his son to "shut the hell up."
"This guy is not exactly off to a good start and it is clear that Donald Trump really has buyers remorse with his pick," Shapiro said.
"If he wants to sling insults in my direction, which I'm not even sure is really an insult, let him do it, that's fine, bring it on, I'll be ready for whatever the hell J.D. Vance throws."

He also dubbed Vance a "phony baloney."
Shapiro's snarky reply went viral on X Friday afternoon and earned him kudos from big-name politicos such as attorney and Trump adversary George Conway.
"Vance isn’t really very good at this politics thing," Conway wrote. "But Shapiro is."
"Oh my god," wrote Democratic social media influencer Harry Sisson. "Governor Josh Shapiro just ended J.D. Vance’s career with this brutal answer."
"Josh Shapiro just murdered JD Vance on live TV," wrote political activist Justin Horwitz. "RIP."
