600,000-pound transformer on the way to Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Center

COFFEY COUNTY (KSNT) - Workers are moving a massive transformer weighing hundreds of thousands of pounds through Coffey County Friday.

The Coffey County Sheriff's Office posted an alert to social media on Aug. 2 regarding the movements of a transformer weighing 600,000 pounds as it moves between Lebo and Wolf Creek. The load is moving only at around four or five mph.

The transformer is being moved by a large crawler with 144 tires on its way to the Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Plant. The transformer is slated to arrive at its destination around 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 2.
