Centre spent Rs 36,397 crore on procurement of COVID vaccines: Govt

India's government allocated Rs 36,397.65 crore for providing free Covid vaccines to states and UTs. As of July 29, 2024, 220.68 crore doses were administered. Vaccine allocation considered target population, progress, and wastage. India's 'Vaccine Maitri' program distributed 3012.465 lakh doses abroad. Significant funds were invested in research, development, and manufacturing support for vaccines.
