Maya Rudolph (‘Loot’): Emmys 2024 episode submission revealed
Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Maya Rudolph is entering the “Loot” episode “Space for Everyone” as her 2024 Emmy Award submission for Best Comedy Actress. The episode aired on April 3 and is the Season 2 premiere of the Apple TV+ series.
In “Space for Everyone,” the group brainstorms what to do with Molly’s (Rudolph) money, which ends with a young billionaire getting busted for fraud and money laundering. Arthur (Nat Faxon), who has not yet told Molly his feelings for her, comforts her when she’s embarrassed she almost handed her fortune to a felon. Molly then gets the idea to buy empty hotels to turn into affordable housing and call it Space for Everyone. However, her ex-husband John (Adam Scott) steals her thunder the next day by announcing his new mission to space.
Rudolph, who received four nominations this year for a career total of 15, is up against Quinta Brunson (“Abbott Elementary”), Ayo Edebiri (“The Bear”), Selena Gomez (“Only Murders in the Building”), Jean Smart (“Hacks”) and Kristen Wiig (“Palm Royale”). Her other bids this year are for Best Comedy Guest Actress (“Saturday Night Live”), Best Character Voice-Over Performance (“Big Mouth”) and Best Music and Lyrics (“Maya Rudolph Mother’s Day Monologue” from “SNL”). She has won five Emmys — all since 2020 — for Best Comedy Guest Actress (“SNL,” 2020-21) and Best Character Voice-Over Performance (“Big Mouth,” 2020-21, 2023).
Rudolph’s bid is “Loot’s” sole nomination this year and its first one ever.
