Polis Chrysochous bursting with folk events
A popular summer hotspot, Polis Chrysochous will offer a multitude of events this August and September to entertain locals and visitors. Throughout the summer, the Municipality of Polis Chrysochou will present a rich cultural programme including theatrical performances, concerts and outdoor cinema. The events have been enriching the Paphos agenda since mid July and will continue with almost daily events until September 20.
On August 5 and 6, two Cypriot comedies will be put on by local theatre groups, the first at the car park next to Mikis Tavern and the second at Drouseia Theatre, both at 8.30pm.
A music and dance performance will take place on August 7 focused on rembetiko music, again at the car park next to Mikis Tavern. On August 9, there will be a concert featuring art, music, folk and rembetiko songs performed by an eight-member bouzouki ensemble. A traditional evening with Areti Ketime and Stefanos Pelekanos will follow on August 12. The Phoinikas Festival will take place on August 14, featuring Greek singer Makis Dimakis at the Ayia Marina Chrysochous Park. While all other events have free entry, the Phoinkas Festival is the only one with tickets, costing €15.
More music and theatre events will follow throughout August with the cultural programme ending with World Tourism Day Festival on September 20 with traditional products and folk art filling the Ayios Andronikos Park.
