Man Utd have now decided to sign four-time title winner, 26yo waiting to join them - report
Manchester United have made a couple of signings during the ongoing transfer window and there could be more activity before the deadline on August 30.
A new right-back is one of the priorities for United. Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui is the top target and the club have verbally agreed terms with him.
Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna now claims the Red Devils have informed Mazraoui that a deal will be finalised for his transfer from Bayern.
The Moroccan is waiting for the green light to leave Bayern’s camp. A move could materialise as soon as Aaron Wan-Bissaka heads through the exit door.
Wan-Bissaka has agreed personal terms with West Ham United, but the London outfit are still to meet the £18 million asking price set by the Red Devils.
United close to signing Mazraoui from Bayern
Wan-Bissaka has entered the last year of his contract with United. The decision has been made to offload him to purchase a more attack-minded right-back.
Mazraoui has been earmarked as the ideal fit. The Moroccan predominantly operates from the right side of the back four, but can also play as a left-back.
His versatility could be a reason behind the interest. United have agreed to pay £15-20m for Mazraoui, but a deal could go through after Wan-Bissaka’s exit.
The 26-year-old is a strong ball-playing right-back who has the ability to create chances with his overlapping runs – something which Wan-Bissaka has failed to do.
The Crystal Palace graduate has excelled with his one-on-one defending, but manager Erik ten Hag wants someone who can impact play in the final third.
Mazraoui, who has won four league titles in his career with Ajax and Bayern, could be on his way to Old Trafford before the start of the new league season.
