FM: Cyprus-Egypt relations of strategic importance

Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos after meetings held in Egypt, stressed the strategic importance of relations between the two countries.

Following a meeting on Thursday in Cairo with new Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, Kombos said there was a need to avoid further escalation and destabilisation in the Middle East.

According to a press release, Kombos and Abdelatty’s meeting was followed by extended consultations between delegations of the two countries.

Discussions focused on bilateral relations and deepening cooperation. EU – Egypt relations and energy issues were also discussed.

Kombos underscored the strategic importance of Cyprus-Egypt relations and said Nicosia was commitment to further strengthen ties.

Egypt plays a leading role as a pillar of stability and security Kombos said.
