Permit granted for
game arcade plan
A city zoning administrator has approved a conditional use permit for a game arcade in the Marin Square shopping center.
The business at 75 Bellam Blvd., Suite H, plans to offer two pinball machines, two pool tables, six foosball tables and two air-hockey tables, according to a staff report by Renee Nickenig, a city planner. The proposed hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. The business does not plan to sell alcohol.
The zoning official held a hearing on the application on July 24.
THE COUNTY
Training offered for
medical emergencies
The county plans to hold its annual lifesaving training program at 13 sites on Aug. 17.
The free events are scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In about 15 minutes, participants can learn how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, operate a defibrillator, administer Narcan to reverse a drug overdose and control bleeding.
The sites are Corte Madera Town Center near Blue Barn; Fire Station 21 in Fairfax; Bon Air Center near Mollie Stone’s Market in Greenbrae; Marin Country Mart at Larkspur Landing; the Depot Café & Bookstore in Mill Valley; the Target store in Marin City; the Muir Beach parking lot; the Vintage Oaks Shopping Center near Costco in Novato; Toby’s Feed Barn in Point Reyes Station: Montecito Plaza near Trader Joe’s in San Rafael; the ferry terminals in Sausalito and Tiburon; and the Village Green in Stinson Beach. Training in Spanish will be available at the San Rafael site.
The event is being organized by the Marin County Department of Health and Human Services and the Marin Emergency Medical Services Agency.

City Council makes
board appointments
The City Council has appointed residents to seats on the Library Board of Trustees and the Marin County Commission on Aging.
Timothy McCloud replaces Shira Barnett on the library board. Barnett resigned in March, according to a city staff report. The term expires on April 11, 2026.
The appointee to the county commission is Edward Schultz. The term started Wednesday and expires on June 30, 2026.
The council approved the appointments at its meeting on Tuesday, said Walfred Solorzano, the city clerk.
NOVATO
Suspect arrested in
stalking investigation
Police have arrested a Napa man on allegations of stalking a resident in Novato.
The case began in May after a man was seen looking into the victim’s window, police said. Investigators developed evidence that he had committed similar offenses at the property before.
Investigators identified the suspect as Nicolas Reyes Jr., 32, and booked him into the Marin County Jail on Wednesday on suspicion of stalking and prowling. He remained in custody Thursday in lieu of $100,000 bail.
