Arrest made in Berkeley’s second homicide of 2024
BERKELEY — Authorities on Thursday announced an arrest in Berkeley’s second homicide of the year.
The suspect — identified as Steve Addison — was taken into custody Thursday in North Oakland, according to the Berkeley Police Department. He was booked into the city jail on a no-bail murder warrant.
Police said the homicide happened July 3 in the 2900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way. Officers arrived to find a person dead from what was later determined to be a gunshot wound.
A motive for the killing was not released Thursday.
“Addison’s arrest helps make our community safer and we do not believe there are any other outstanding suspects in connection with this case,” police said in a community message.
