Verdict to let political parties address their constituencies

The Supreme Court’s judgment on Scheduled Castes (SC) reservation is set to enhance benefits for more backward communities and provide political parties with a tool to address their constituencies effectively. Former social justice secretary R Subrahmanyam welcomed the ruling, noting that it enables states to address disparities within SC communities, where some have historically benefitted more from reservations. The judgment allows for a broad methodology to assess community backwardness without detailed surveys.
