What is Netflix’s The Influencer about?
The upcoming Netflix reality show features 77 influencers from across South Korea competing in a social survival show.
While undertaking a variety of tasks, the contestants try to prove who has the greatest influence.
The streaming giant has revealed that participants on The Influencer have a combined total of 120million followers across platforms including YouTube, TikTok and Instagram.
Series producer Lee Jae-seok told Netflix: “You’ll see the top influencers in Korea and experience unique entertainment through the large scale and visuals that only Netflix can deliver, along with never-before-seen social survival missions.”
He added: “I thought it would be interesting to gather influencers, divided by algorithms, in one place.”
Netflix released the show’s first teaser trailer on July 9, 2024.
The clip introduces viewers to some of the cast of The Influencer, as well as providing some information about them, such as how many followers each of them has.
A robotic voice says during the teaser: “Enter the world where attention and influence are equal to worth and power.
“Welcome to the social survival show, The Influencer.”
The full trailer for the reality series was released a fortnight later by the platform on July 23.
It provides a closer look at the contestants who will be competing to become the most influential social media personality.
Netflix’s descriptions of The Influencer so far have been deliberately vague in an effort to enshroud it in mystery.
What we know so far is that each of the 77 influencers participating will have to navigate a series of difficult challenges in an effort to come out on top.
Who stars in Netflix’s The Influencer?
A full list of cast members has not yet been released.
So far the streamer has confirmed make-up influencer Risabae, travel content creator Pani Bottle and fitness expert Shim Euddeum will star in the series.
Other participants include Xiajiu, Jang Geun-seok, Jin Yong-jin and Daedo Library.
When is The Influencer released on Netflix?
The Influencer follows in the footsteps of K-survival shows like Physical: 100, Zombieverse, The Devil’s Plan and Siren: Survive the Island.
Netflix’s latest piece of unscripted Korean drama sees the country’s top influencers battling it out to see who has the biggest market value.
The influencer will drop on Netflix on August 6, 2024.
