Redditor Severe-collection-45 explained her exact ritual for calming sunburns, which one called “witchcraft.”

Her method contained more than just the usual aloe vera alone.

It also won’t break the bank, using ingredients that many already have on hand.

She explained that her technique is full of antioxidants, making it ideal for those suffering with sunburn.

TEA TIME

She starts out by brewing a black tea and then allowing it to simmer down before getting to business.

“Make a strong black tea and let it cool, soak your skin with the cool black tea mixture,” she said.

Next, she follows up with an old faithful to treat all sorts of burns.

“Apply thick layers of aloe vera gel,” she added.

Finally, she seals the deal with a product that can be found in the baby aisle at the store.

“Before you go to bed apply a layer of a diaper rash cream with high zinc content and also petroleum or petroleum-adjacent ingredients,” she said.

“Some [diaper rash creams] come with mild anesthetics as well which will help with any pain.”

HOW DOES IT WORK?

She was sure to explain how her sunburn sorcery is so effective at healing.

“The black tea has antioxidants which will help with the oxidative stress that happens with sunburns,” she said.

She said that she doesn’t understand why the aloe vera works, but still uses it.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, aloe vera is not a cure for sunburns but could treat the pain that comes with them due to its cooling effects on the skin.

She added that the zinc oxide from the diaper rash cream is anti-inflammatory to decrease the level of the burn.

Finally, she added that petroleum works as occlusive to promote wound healing.

Several Redditors gave their opinions on the unique approach to treating a sunburn.

“What in the witchcraft is this,” one wrote. “I had no idea any of this could help except aloe vera.”

“Yes,” another gushed. “Black tea works like magic.”
