Topeka road closures due to downed powerlines

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Wednesday night at approximately 10 p.m. a strong thunderstorm moved through Topeka causing several power outages and downed powerlines on roadways.
Evergy was notified and has dispatched several crews to the area to assess the damage.
According to the Topeka Police Department, impacted areas include:
- Southwest Topeka Boulevard between Southwest 37th and I-470 in both directions.
- Southwest Wanamaker between Southwest 27th and Southwest 29th in both directions.
TPD reminds motorists not to drive over downed power lines or around any barricades put in place to direct traffic.
