DOUBLE Olympic champion James Guy might be more relatable than you think.

The British swimmer was caught mimicking a golf stroke on the Paris podium after Team GB retained their 4x200m freestyle relay title.

The 28-year-old joined Matt Richards, Tom Dean and Duncan Scott to claim Britain’s first swimming gold of Paris 2024 in commanding fashion.

After Adam Peaty and Richards came within inches of winning – but had to settle for silvers – the same quartet that won in Tokyo reunited to claim top-spot again.

A quick search of Guy’s X feed showed his adoration for his other sporting love – golf.

Guy’s X bio reads: “5 times Olympic medallist. 2 Gold 3 Silver. Multiple World and European Champion. Cars, Watches. Golf.”

And the Brit’s intrusive thoughts took over after receiving his medal, as he acted out a claw putting stroke while looking at his family in the crowd.

And fans were in awe of Bury-born athlete’s playful podium shenanigans.

Taking to X, one wrote: “Protect this man at all costs.”

A second said: “Make this man your flag bearer, Brits. Most heroic Englishman since Churchill.”

While a third added: “Showing this to my boss to prove that nobody wants to be doing their job, they just want to be on the course.”

Before another chimed in: “Never a bad time to practice putting.”

A fifth said: “You know he’s a real golf lover.”

Meanwhile, Guy’s family are preparing to celebrate his gold medal win with his favourite dish – roast dinner and apple crumble.

Following Tuesday’s feat, Guy’s mother Catherine told the BBC: “I’m going to make him the Sunday roast he likes best, with beef and Yorkshire pudding.

“It was an amazing feeling. I’m so proud. I can’t believe that was my little boy, and I loved every minute.

“I’ll give him a big hug and make him his Sunday roast and apple crumble.”
