'Trouble for Mr. Trump at the ballot box': Red flag raised over Truth Social's low traffic

Former President Donald Trump's Truth Social platform just saw traffic nosedive for the third straight month, new data shows.

Truth Social, owned by the publicly traded Trump Media, attracted little more than 2 million unique visitors in June, down 38 percent from the 3.4 million it hosted in June 2023, according to TheRighting's analysis of Comscore data. The report didn't give numbers for May and April, but said a steady drop was recorded each month.

“The diminishing audience levels for Truth Social suggest a rejection of the harsh rhetoric expressed by the ex-president and his political allies,” said TheRighting president Howard Polskin. “If this softness persists, it might portend trouble for Mr. Trump at the ballot box in November.”

TheRighting — a journalist-run media company that monitors conservative news — reported Truth Social saw its second worst traffic numbers since June 2022 when it failed to clear 2 million visitors.

When Truth Social launched in February 2022 it had 3,260,000 unique visitors, the Righting reports.

Truth Social was not the only conservative media site to take a traffic hit, TheRighting reports.

Rumble numbers dropped 43 percent in a year to 6,365,000 unique visitors and Gettr dropped 34 percent to 134,000 visitors, the analysis shows.

Truth Social experienced a tumultuous 2024 after Trump Media completed its merger with "blank check firm" Digital World Acquisition and the company went pubic in March.

Stock soared initially to more than $66 a share then plummeted as news broke of financial filings reporting Truth Social had lost $58 million in 2023.

Trump Media, which trades on the Stock Exchange under the former president's initials DJT, has seen stock values drop over the past two weeks from $40.58 on July 15 to $28.22 as of 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, Google Finance numbers show.

Zeteo News columnist Justin Baragona, among the first to spot TheRighting's research, told followers "Truth Social has seen its traffic plummet for three straight months."

"And trading at around $29 a share," replied X user JT, "it's still overpriced."
