Police investigating homicide in Schenectady

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Schenectady Police Department reports it is investigating a homicide. It occurred on Wednesday night.

Patrol officers responded to an address on Charles Street between State Street and Albany Street at around 8:21 p.m. on Wednesday for a report of a woman who had been shot. Upon arrival, police say they found a woman suffering from a gunshot who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers say they also found a man with serious injuries at the scene who was detained and is at a local hospital, along with children in the home who were unharmed and are with family now. The name of the victim and any identifying information will not be released until the family has been notified.

Police say that the investigation is ongoing and they are confident in the leads they have so far.
