4 Shows You May Not Have Known Were Based In Detroit
Here are four shows you may not have realized were based in Detroit, Michigan.
1. Sister, Sister
Sister, Sister (1994-1999) follows the separation and eventual (and accidental) reunion of identical twin sisters Tia and Tamera, who learn about each other in their teens while shopping at the local mall.
Tamera, who was adopted by Ray, and Tia, who was adopted by Lisa, have had very different upbringings, despite their identical beginnings. However, once the twins find out about one another, they don’t want to be separated again. As such, Ray and Lisa end up living together with their girls.
2. 8 Simple Rules
8 Simple Rules was a sitcom starring Kaley Cuoco, Amy Davidson, Katey Segal, and John Ritter. The show was all about the Hennessy family and how parents Cate (Segal) and Paul (Ritter) were to raise their teenage daughters.
Tragically, Ritter passed away during the first season. The show adapted to the loss by having Paul character pass as well.
3. Home Improvement
Home Improvement (1991-1999) starred Tim Allen as Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor, host of the Detroit-Michigan-based home improvement show “Tool Time.” When he wasn’t on TV, Taylor your typical family man, a husband and father to three mischievous boys. With Taylor’s loyal co-host in tow, along with his quirky neighbor, Home Improvement was one of the most highly-rated sitcoms of the 90s.
4. Detroiters
Okay okay, to be fair, you probably had an inkling this show was based in the Motor City given the name. And you were correct! Detroiters (2017-2018) is a Comedy Central buddy comedy starring Sam Richardson and Tim Robinson as Sam Duvet and Tim Cramblin, respectively. Sam and Tim are local ad men who make low-budget commercials in Detroit. The best friends aspire for great things. While the series only ran two seasons, it’s definitely worth a watch.
