Templegate’s Galway Hurdle tip and 1-2-3 prediction

Daddy Long Legs can give Willie Mullins more Galway Hurdle glory.

The Irish – and British – champion jumps trainer has won five of the past eight runnings of this red-hot contest and has another major contender.

He signed off last season with a blistering big-field handicap hurdle win at the Punchestown Festival.

That was just the fifth time he’d jumped a hurdle so there’s every chance that he’ll find a lot more.

He was given a very quiet spin around Tipperary last time in preparation for this and the five-year-old can take Paul Townend very close.

Nicky Henderson sends over Under Control in the JP McManus colours with solid claims although her past two runs have not been the most encouraging.

She did land a big novice pot at Sandown last year and her most appealing feature is a handicap mark of just 137 which gives her a lovely racing weight.

Nurburgring warmed up with a spin on the Flat at Leopardstown 14 days ago.

He was a good fourth in the Triumph Hurdle before going close in the Irish version at Punchestown.

He’s another who could be a few steps ahead of the handicapper.

Stablemate Nusret looks solid each-way having last run in the Ascot Stakes at June’s Royal meeting.

He was a solid fifth in a Punchestown Listed contest the last time he jumped a hurdle and could easily outrun his odds.

The booking of Rachael Blackmore for Williamstowndancer takes the eye.

She was a winner on the level last time and has a Grade 3 hurdle success on her CV.

Her mark of 135 is fair and she’s another contender for the Mullins team.

1st Daddy Long Legs
2nd Under Control
3rd Nurburgring
