Funeral service, procession details for Lafayette Sr. Cpl. Segus Jolivette
OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) -- Funeral services for Sr. Cpl. Segus Jolivette, a Lafayette police officer who was killed in the line of duty last week, will be held Thursday, Aug. 1.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. at Our Savior's Church, 202 Our Savior Church Blvd. in Opelousas.
KLFY will be broadcasting the funeral services live on KLFY News 10 and online.
The services will be officiated by pastors Eugene Reiszner and Kevin Lalonde of Our Savior's Church in Opelousas, according to Jolivette's obituary.
Thursday's services will be open to the public and will conclude with a procession back to Lafayette, according to the Lafayette Police Department.
During the procession, Lafayette police says motorists can expect heavy traffic between 3-4 p.m.
The procession route:
- enter the city limits of Lafayette on I-49
- turn onto East Pont Des Mouton Road
- proceed southbound on Moss Street
- westbound on West Willow Street
- southbound on University Avenue
- turn onto Pinhook Road until it reaches its end past Kaliste Saloom Road
Intersections will be blocked off as the procession passes and will be re-opened shortly after, police said.
"Please understand the situation and have a secondary route planned if traveling during this time frame," Lafayette police said in a news release.
The burial of Jolivette will be a private ceremony for immediate family and close friends only.
