Abdullah Abdullah, the former Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation of Afghanistan, extended his deepest condolences to the family of Ismail Haniyeh and the people of Palestine. In a statement posted on his X account on Wednesday, July 31, Abdullah condemned the assassination as an act of terrorism and a violation of international laws and norms.”

“Support for the Palestinian people’s rightful claim to freedom and self-determination is both legitimate and backed by the overwhelming majority of global populations and countries,” he stated.

He added that “Achieving peace and security in the Middle East and worldwide is impossible without recognizing Palestinian freedom and establishing a sovereign Palestinian state.”

Meanwhile, Abdullah said that the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, a prominent Palestinian political leader recently engaged in ceasefire negotiations and peace efforts while visiting the Islamic Republic of Iran, is condemned as an act of terrorism and a violation of international laws and norms. We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and the people of Palestine.

Systematic crime and oppression against the Palestinian people by the Israeli regime are the root causes of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East. The suffering and atrocities currently being inflicted on the people of Gaza will not be forgotten by humanity, he stated.

The assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, which occurred in Tehran, has sparked significant international reactions. As a key figure in Palestinian politics and peace negotiations, his death has intensified existing tensions in the region.

The impact of this assassination on ongoing peace efforts and regional stability remains uncertain. With Haniyeh’s recent involvement in diplomatic discussions, his death is seen as a setback to potential resolutions and could exacerbate conflicts between Palestinian factions and external actors.

Abdullah’s statement reflects a broader condemnation of the act, emphasizing its impact on peace efforts and regional stability. His comments underscore the need for adherence to international legal standards and express solidarity with the Palestinian cause during this tumultuous time.
