'Racists not welcome here!' Trump to be greeted with chants of 'weirdo' at Chicago protest
Protesters gathered outside the Hilton Chicago on Wednesday to demonstrate against former President Donald Trump's appearance at an event for Black journalists.
Ahead of Trump's question-and-answer session at the National Association of Black Journalists conference, several hundred protesters assembled across the street.
"Stand up! Fight back!" the demonstrators could be heard chanting.
"Donald Trump, go away, racist, sexist, anti-gay!" they said in another chant. "Say it loud, say it clear, racists are not welcome here."
Courthouse News correspondent Dave Bynes said he could hear a "refrain of weirdo" as a brass band played in the background.
Fox News host Harris Faulkner and two other journalists were expected to moderate the event. Some members of NABJ said they would boycott Trump's appearance.
