How Alex Cora Feels About Red Sox After Series Of Trades

The Red Sox were plenty active before the Major League Baseball trade deadline.

Boston made a total of five trades before the clock struck 6 p.m. ET on Tuesday. Craig Breslow and company addressed the club’s biggest needs, acquiring a right-handed bat (Danny Jansen), a starting pitcher (James Paxton) and a pair of relievers (Lucas Sims, Luis García). The Red Sox even made a move for the future in a prospect swap with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

So, how does Alex Cora feel about his team after all the wheeling and dealing?

“I feel good, really good,” Cora told reporters Tuesday, per The Boston Globe. “The bullpen is in a good place. Obviously waiting for some guys to get healthy.”

Of course, the onus now is on Red Sox players to prove the front office was right to buy instead of sell. Once the deadline passed, Cora challenged his group to “finish the job,” something Boston failed to do the past few years.

The Red Sox can take a step in the right direction Wednesday when they try to win their series against the Seattle Mariners, another team fighting for the final American League wild-card spot. NESN’s full coverage of the series finale at Fenway Park begins at 3 p.m. ET.
