N&N: Will Brennan sent to AAA amid many MLB trades
N&N for July 31
To make room for Lane Thomas, the Guardians optioned Will Brennan to AAA.
Chronologically, that’s the first thing that happened yesterday, but a lot happened afterwards. Like, the Guardians won a game! And made another trade. Time for lots of information... not in any particular order:
- Cleveland acquired Alex Cobb for Jacob Bresnahan and a PTBNL
- Cleveland won an MLB game, 5-0 over the selling Tigers.
Tyler Holton continued to be Randy Johnson when pitching against the Guardians. But once he left the game, Josh Naylor homered for the first time in ages to make it 1-0. Then Dan Schneemann doubled for the first time in ages to make it 2-0. Then Jose Ramirez homered home Lane Thomas to make it 4-0.
Gavin Williams dominated, but only for 5 innings. Like yesterday this was a low-stress game. A 5-0 win that was interrupted by many MLB transactions.
Some of those were...
- Fangraphs explored why Yusei Kikuchi was worth so much on the trade market
- LGFT Josh Bell was dealt to Arizona
- The Dodgers landed Jack Flaherty whose back worried NYY.
- Andrew Chafin headed to the tigers
- tanner Scott was a Marlin, until the Padres somehow found a bunch more prospects that they hadn’t already dealt away.
- The Twins traded for a meh reliever.
- DeJong to Royals. Why?
- Rumored Guardian Dylan Carlson got traded to the Rays for Shawn Armstrong
- IKF and BDLC to PIT
- Trevor Rogers is a lucky man, going from the Marlins to the Orioles.
- Lucas Sims was traded to Boston.
- Mark Leiter Jr is now a Yankee. So is LGFT EDLS.
- Eloy Jimenez was shipped to Baltimore. How many games will he be healthy for?
- The Twins lost to the Mets.
But yet another CWS blown save handed the Royals a win.
