KU football's Bryant makes national defensive player of the year watch list
LAWRENCE (KSNT) - The Jayhawks may have a contender for the best defensive player in college football.
KU senior cornerback Cobee Bryant was chosen as one of 75 defensive players to make the Bronko Nagurski Trophy preseason watch list. On Tuesday, the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, presented by the Football Writers Association of America, announced a list of defensive players to look out for in 2024.
Bryant joins fellow Jayhawk quarterback Jalon Daniels, running back Devin Neal and long snapper Luke Horsford to make a preseason watch list.
He heads into his senior season as a two-time All Big 12 First-Team Selection, with a career 91 tackles and nine interceptions. As a junior, Bryant boasted 32 tackles, four interceptions and nine pass breakups for the Jayhawks.
The Bronko Nagurski Trophy has selected the National Defensive Player of the Year, since 1993. The FWAA will present the award on Dec. 9 in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Bronko Nagurski Awards Banquet.
