Charred bodies found in vehicle in Limassol
Police on Wednesday are investigating two charred bodies found in a burning car in a rural area of Limassol district overnight.
According to initial reports, the two bodies were burned beyond recognition and had been in the flaming vehicle, where they were found by firefighters after the fire was put out.
Firefighters first arrived at the scene shortly after midnight, where the car was reported to be burning midway between Parekklisia and Kelaki, on a dirt road 50m off the main road.
Once the fire had been dealt with the firefighters noticed the two bodies, and police, as well as a medical examiner Nicholas Charalambous, were called to the scene.
Investigations are ongoing and an autopsy is underway.
CID officers from headquarters and Limassol are scouring the area for evidence and all scenarios are open, including the incident being an accident, foul play or a double suicide.
