Yamuna breathes easy after rains, but just; pollutant levels alarming

Monsoon rains in New Delhi offered some relief to the Yamuna River, reducing faecal coliform levels but leaving the water highly contaminated. The biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) remained above acceptable limits, indicating persistent pollution. Despite improvements, the river continued to show signs of severe contamination, with frothy, foul-smelling water observed in several stretches.
