How to see the 'World’s Largest Rubber Duck' and her duckling in New York
RYE, N.Y. (PIX11) — A giant plastic duck and her plastic duckling will be making their way to Rye, New York, to be displayed at Playland amusement park in August, a spokesperson for the theme park announced on Tuesday.
Mama Duck, the “World’s Largest Rubber Duck,” is on a journey with her duckling to spread happiness and leave an unforgettable impact wherever they go, according to the Big Duck's website.
Mama Duck is scheduled to be at Playland from Friday, Aug. 16, through Sunday, Aug. 18. Mama Duck stands 61 feet high, and her duckling Timmy stands 10 feet high.
“We are thrilled to feature the Big Duck for our second annual Duck Days of Summer at Rye Beach,” said Evonne Keeler, chief executive officer of Playland. “Mama Duck brings her oversized love and joy around the world, and we are excited to have her swim up the Long Island Sound to Playland. All weekend, we will feature fun games, giveaways, photo ops, fireworks, and live music.”
How to get there
If you’re a New Yorker who wants to see Mama Duck and her duckling Timmy, you can purchase a ticket to Playland for $75, which includes a round-trip ferry ride and unlimited rides at the amusement park. The ferry route includes stops at East 34th and 90th streets in Manhattan and Ferry Point in the Bronx.
