OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — A 40-year-old man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison after shooting at an Oklahoma City police officer back in October 2023.

On Monday, Michael Anthony Wilson II was sentenced on a charge of illegally possessing a firearm after a previous felony conviction, according to the U.S. Western District Court of Oklahoma.

Court records show Wilson was convicted of kidnapping and domestic assault and battery in Oklahoma County, and second degree burglary and unauthorized use of a vehicle in Canadian County.

News 4 had crews on the scene of the October 13, 2023, shooting near W Wilshire Boulevard and N Rockwell Avenue, where a suspect later identified as Wilson had fired multiple shots at an OKCPD officer sitting in their patrol car.

The officer sustained minor injuries after reportedly being struck by shrapnel during the incident.

According to court documents, Wilson planned to "pop a cop" in retaliation for his cousin, who was shot by police in Cleveland County, leading up to the shooting.

On February 7, Wilson pleaded guilty to carrying a firearm despite his prior criminal record.
