Israeli airstrike hits Beirut, killing 1 and wounding dozens in surging tensions with Hezbollah

BEIRUT — Israel said it targeted a Hezbollah commander in a rare strike Tuesday on Beirut that killed at least one woman and wounded dozens of people in escalating hostilities with the Lebanese militant group.
