The trade deadline like a purring puma looms.

In Mariners news...

  • Craig Goldstein at Baseball Prospectus wrote up multiple young prospects around the league, including Seattle’s own Tai Peete. ($)
  • The Mariners made a trade! The recently DFA’d Ty France has landed with Cincinatti, and in return Seattle received a low minors backup catcher in Andruw Salcedo.

No matter how you feel about the team needs and current fit, there is no doubt that Ty France was a Mariner through and through during his tenure here. He will be greatly missed, and we wish him nothing but the best of luck with the Reds, and all his future endeavors.

And here were the financial terms of the deal that sent Ty to Cincy.

  • Ty France isn’t the only player we’ve had to say goodbyes too, and there were some warm parting words for now-former Mariners prospect Jonatan Clase.

  • The Mariners made TWO trades, actually! In a one-for-one in player terms but also sending cash considerations, Seattle has received two-time All-Star Justin Turner, and sent outfield prospect RJ Schreck.

With one tiny amendment:

  • The Rays continued to sell, sending Amed Rosario to the Dodgers.

  • Jack Flaherty hasn’t been traded yet, but with news like this it might only be a matter of time.

  • Flaherty maybe... but Tarik Skubal maybe no?

  • The streaming situation in the baseball world remains a tangled web, but perhaps became a little less tangled for some Xfinity subscribers with this news.

  • At different points in yesterday’s Diamondbacks and Nationals game, the Snakes were down 6-0 and 8-2. That didn’t stop them from capping off a rally with a five run, walk-off 9-8 win. The player to drive in the winning runs? Corbin Carroll, with a pinch-hit walk off home run, his first career walk-off home run.

Some of the fans were understandable a little shocked.

  • Jorge Soler is on the move from San Francisco back to Atlanta.

  • Quinn Priester is now a Red Sock.

  • And pitchers were incoming to the Pirates too, with them acquiring Jalen Beeks from Colorado.

  • Christian Walker was removed from yesterday’s Diamondback’s game with some oblique trouble.
