$15 000 fine in cash rejected

0

The money for the forthwith fine was in hand and immigration officials were standing by to take Jamaican gunman Onickey Orian Reid into their custody yesterday.

However, an issue at the accounts department of the court saw the $15 000 fine being unpaid and Reid returning to the custody of prison officials, instead of being deported, after his matter concluded in the No. 5 Supreme Court.

Reid, of Fleet Street, Block B7, Apartment 2, Central Kingston, Jamaica, had pleaded guilty, at a previous Session of the Continuous Sittings, to having a 5.56-calibre rifle on April 29, 2022.

He was represented by King’s Counsel Michael Lashley and attorney Sade Harris, while State Counsel Eleazar Williams and State Counsel Tito Holder appeared for the prosecution.
