It’s been busy over the past few weeks, so here is a quick news catch up on stories you may have missed in Transport News.

Streamline Shipping Group: When you deliver to the northern isles you must be prepared to transport anything and everything, and that versatility has allowed Streamline Shipping Group to prosper on the mainland and around the world.

Peacock Salt: Transport has played a large part in the growth of 150-year-old Scottish business Peacock Salt, which started  by sailing ships to operating a modern fleet of trucks.

Route 74 Truckstop Glasgow: A new 80-space truckstop has been opened in Glasgow by Route 74, providing much needed secure parking in the central belt. The site is 2310 London Road, Glasgow, yards from the M74 J3 at Carmyle and Clydesmill Industrial Estate and is the second Route 74 truckstop operating alongside its site at Lesmahagow.

The A9: Much is said and written about the A9, especially the 112-mile-long section linking Perth and Inverness, which is arguably Scotland’s most important trunk for road haulage.

Looking Back: In a new feature, regular contributor Ian Lawson sifts through his innumerable catalogue of images to bring Transport News the trucks from hauliers no longer with us. The first is PJ Grant & Sons, based in Nairn, who ran for 55 years before closing its doors in 2018.

Rates cut: Hauliers working for Aggregate Industries have reacted with fury at a move by the company to chop its rates by 1.77% after blaming ‘extremely challenging’ trading conditions.
