Opening day of the 2024 Ulster County Fair

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Ulster County Fair returns for its 136th year on Tuesday, July 30. Filled with food, rides, and entertainment, the fair runs through August 4.

Founded in 1869, the Ulster County Fair has moved around from Ellenville to Kingston to New Paltz, where it is today. The fair takes place at the Ulster County Fairgrounds at 249 Libertyville Road.

"We are excited to welcome everyone to the 2024 Ulster County Fair," said Fair Manager Gary Newkirk. "With our fantastic lineup of free entertainment, updated sensory safe space, and remodeled Youth Building, we aim to provide an inclusive and enjoyable experience for all our visitors."

Tuesday is Carload Night, where a car with a maximum of eight people can get into the fair for $50. Seniors can get into the fair for free on Wednesday and Thursday. Sensory safe hours are 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday through Sunday (no rides) and 11 a.m. to noon on Wednesday and Thursday (rides without lights or music).

You can buy tickets on the Ulster County Fair website or at the door. Admission includes access to all the Midway Rides. The gates open at 4 p.m. on Tuesday and 10 a.m. every other day.
