Secret Service and FBI officials will testify about Trump assassination attempt in latest hearing

Senate lawmakers are expected to grill the Secret Service's acting director about law enforcement lapses in the hours before the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. It's the latest in a series of congressional hearings dedicated to the July 13 shooting at the Republican presidential candidate's Pennsylvania rally. Ronald Rowe became acting director of the agency last week after Kimberly Cheatle resigned in the aftermath of a House hearing in which she was berated by lawmakers and failed to answer specific questions about the communication failures preceding the shooting. Rowe will be joined by the FBI’s deputy director at a hearing of two Senate committees on Tuesday.
