Their shock victory meant series favourites Nicole Samuel and Ciaran Davies came runners-up – despite having been coupled up from the start.

Mimii and Josh got together after her on/off romance with Ayo Odukoya, with her confessing just two weeks ago she still had feelings for her former flame.

But nurse Mimii was a firm favourite among fans from the moment she entered the villa, with many suggesting she’s the reason they won.

One wrote on social media: “Let’s be honest, people didn’t vote for the most compatible or genuine couple to win, they just voted cause they wanted Mimi to win.”

Another said: “I’m a full Mimii and Josh supporter but can the girl at least show that she’s interested in that man like damn.”

And a third added: “Mimii had a sensational #loveisland experience.

“Lots of good looking men checking for her + Josh. Never dumped despite being single couple times. Little bit of drama to stay relevant, looked amazing the entire time and pretty much every single islander LOVED her + loads of fans.”

Viewers were also left convinced Nicole and Ciaran were “fuming” over missing out on the prize.

One wrote: “Ciaran and Nicole thought they had it in the bag. They were fuming.”

A second posted: “Nicole and Ciaran thought they won.”

“I know Nicole and Ciaran are fuming,” a third said and another added: “Nicole and Ciaran fuming! All that hard work for nothing.”
