Remembering MB Day

Today is July 29, Mohun Bagan Day, which is held annually to celebrate Mohun Bagan’s historic 2-1 win over East Yorkshire Regiment in the IFA Shield Final exactly 113 years ago.

This is a framed picture of a moment from that game, from a newspaper of the time, which hangs in my office. This was gifted to me by my childhood friend Pandit Anindya Banerjee many years ago, from his father’s collection.

A slightly ‘photoshopped’ copy of this picture (where the text on the top right hand corner has been ‘improved’ by somebody) can be seen in various social media platforms, websites and even in a book or two!
