A NEW mum has been savagely mocked for her eccentric baby name choice.

Jordan Kennett, who gave birth to a little boy in April, went viral after revealing the tot’s name.

And it turns out, she’d even settled on the moniker the DAY she found out she was pregnant

The spring baby was her second child, with mum-of-two Jordan already having a two-year-old son.

When she found out she was pregnant for a second time, she knew she wanted to honour her dad with the baby’s name.

“We kept my son’s name a secret until the day he was born,” Jordan shared on TikTok

“But we knew from day one that we were naming him after the most deserving person in the world.”

The tot was named Callahan Larry after his grandad.

“My dad was blessed with four girls, so this is pretty special to have a grandson,” Jordan explained.

However, her name choice sparked a flurry of interest on social media… and not all of it was positive.

“Callahan Larry sounds like a SpongeBob character,” one critic claimed.

“These people nowadays name their kid anything,” another echoed.

“It’s a terrible name.

“It sounds very cartoony.”

Garold Gareth “Gary” Wilso, Jr. is SpongeBob SquarePants‘ pet sea snail, who is a regular feature in the animated show and can only say “meow”.

Viewers of Jordan’s video thought her son’s name was reminiscent of Gary the snail – and some even warned it may prompt people to “meow” at him.

Banned Names in the UK

The UK has no law restricting names, but names that contain obscenities, numerals, misleading titles, or are impossible to pronounce are likely to be rejected when registering a child.

  • Monkey
  • Cyanide
  • Martian
  • Akuma
  • Chow Tow
  • Rogue

“Poor kid,” fellow mum Stephanie Bradley commented on the viral video.

“My ex-husband insisted on our son’s middle name after his dad, which was Gary.

“My sisters would “meow” at me my whole pregnancy like the snail on SpongeBob.”

Jordan’s video has totted up an eye-watering 8.4 MILLION views to date, with over 2,000 people taking to the comments to weigh in.

Some viewers reacted positively to the unorthodox name, and dubbed it a “heartwarming” gesture to her dad.

“That’s so touching,” one fawned.

“I love this,” another beamed. “There’s so much joy.”
