I only won £250k People’s Postcode Lottery after mum shared four words of wisdom… I wouldn’t have entered otherwise
AN OVERJOYED mum has scooped a life-changing £250,000 thanks to her mum’s sage advice.
Denise, a dedicated support worker from Liverpool, was left in utter shock when she’d bagged a whopping quarter-of-a-million-pounds playing the People’s Postcode Lottery.

Recalling the pivotal moment, Denise said: “It was my mum who told me to sign up.
“She only lives round the corner, and she’s been doing it for, I think, about five years now.
“We had a little conversation and she said, ‘you should do it,’ and I said, ‘Yeah,’ and so I’ve just done it ever since.”
These four words, “you should do it,” turned out to be life-changing.
Denise signed up on a whim and never looked back, a decision that has now rewarded her beyond her wildest dreams.
The real surprise came when her partner Jo, who had dreamt of a big win, reminded her of the prophecy.
Jo said: “I had a dream you won three hundred grand, didn’t I.”
Denise’s story doesn’t end there.
She shared the £1 million prize with two lucky neighbours in Liverpool after their postcode L21 8PG landed the weekly Millionaire Street prize.
Reflecting on her massive win, Denise said: “I’m absolutely over the moon. I’m in shock.
“When the envelope was getting revealed, I thought, two thousand, three thousand maybe, which, you know, I was going to book a holiday for me and my daughter and my partner.
“When I saw that, it’s like, yeah, it’s life-changing isn’t it.”
Denise, who has spent 20 years supporting adults with learning disabilities, now plans to spoil her family with a luxurious holiday.
She added: “You know when you scroll through things, and you look at these gorgeous villas and things like that.
“Everyone’s on a budget. Well, no, I’m not on a budget now. It’s all on me.”
Her partner Jo, who had dreamt of the win, was equally thrilled.
The couple, together for six months but having known each other for a year, are looking forward to an exciting future together.
Jo couldn’t resist a playful jab, saying “She’s my person,” before adding with a laugh, “before the money“.
Across the street, another lucky winner, Mandy, was in for a double delight.
Initially ecstatic at winning a quarter-of-a-million pounds, Mandy’s joy doubled when she realised she had actually won £500,000, thanks to holding two tickets.
The mum-of-three has since banned her kids from eating McDonald’s.
The family will be celebrating, but not at The Golden Arches as she says her family can now turn to fancier foods.
She said: “We’ll definitely go out for a meal somewhere and it won’t be McDonald’s, which is their favourite.”
These incredible wins come just two months after another lucky streak in Liverpool, where seven players in Garston won £30,000 each.
Meanwhile, winning the lottery can come as a massive suprise, one nursery teacher broke down in front of colleagues after her shocking £250,000 win.
Emma couldn’t hold herself together despite being in front of two work colleagues after thinking she was only in for a £1k windfall.
And she’s not the only lucky lottery player to underestimate their big win.
Elsewhere, a National Lottery player bagged more than £130,000 after his life spiralled into tragedy but he initially brushed off the huge win as just another fiver.
