LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) has announced the temporary closure of the E. Lewis Street bridge crossing Coulee Mine for repairs, authorities said. The initial closure is scheduled from July 30 to Aug. 15.
Detour routes will be available and local access will be maintained throughout the closure period. Those routes include:
- Johnson Street
- E. St. Mary Boulevard
- Girard Park Circle
In consideration of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette's move-in dates, the bridge will temporarily be reopened to traffic from Aug. 16-18. It is expected to close again on Aug. 19 for approximately two additional months to complete the remaining repairs, officials said.
